Questions owners ask
Rules & real food
Is it OK to use enhanced photos on DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub?
Yes, as long as the photo shows the real item a customer will get. That is exactly why we never change the food: we fix the light, background, angle and crop, and the dish stays the dish. You are still responsible for following each platform’s own photo rules, so check their merchant help pages before you upload.
Will it change my food?
No. We change what a food photographer would change: light, white balance, background, table surface, angle and framing. We never add, remove, move or "upgrade" food, garnish, sauce or sides, and your plate or container stays the same.
- Light and white balance
- Background and table surface
- Angle and straightening
- Framing and crop
- Clutter around the plate (napkins, receipts, crumbs on the table)
- The food itself
- Portion size and piece count
- Sauces, garnish and toppings
- Your plate, bowl, basket or container
- Doneness and natural food color
Is this "AI-generated food"?
Straight answer: the finished image is re-rendered by AI, starting from your photo. The rule we hold it to is that the dish, the portion and the plating must stay the same. If a result ever looks like a different plate, tap "Doesn’t look like my dish" and we refund that photo and redo it free.
Do you work with my POS or upload straight to DoorDash?
Not yet. Download the size you need, then upload it yourself: open your merchant portal, go to the menu item, and replace the photo. It takes about a minute per item, and you keep full control over what goes live.
Photos & sizes
What kind of photo should I take?
Plate it the way you serve it. Shoot near a window with the flash off, phone at about 45 degrees for burgers and sandwiches or straight down for pizza and bowls, and keep the whole plate in the frame. A messy counter is fine; we clean up the background. A blurry or very dark photo is not, so hold steady.
What sizes do I get?
Every photo comes in six sizes: DoorDash 16:9 (1600×900), Uber Eats 16:9 (1600×900), Grubhub 3:2 (1500×1000), Menu or website 4:3 (1600×1200), Instagram feed 4:5 (1080×1350) and Square 1:1 (1200×1200), plus the full 4:3 original.
| Size | Ratio | Pixels | Where it's used |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoorDash | 16:9 | 1600×900 | DoorDash item and header photos |
| Uber Eats | 16:9 | 1600×900 | Uber Eats menu items |
| Grubhub | 3:2 | 1500×1000 | Grubhub menu items |
| Menu / Website | 4:3 | 1600×1200 | Your website, QR and printed menus |
| Instagram feed | 4:5 | 1080×1350 | Instagram feed posts |
| Square (Google, Yelp, Facebook) | 1:1 | 1200×1200 | Google Business Profile, Yelp, Facebook |
Checked Oct 17, 2026: DoorDash asks for 16:9, at least 1400×800 (merchant help). Uber Eats and Grubhub publish no fixed size; ours are safe working sizes.
How long does it take?
About a minute per photo. Busy times can take a bit longer. You can leave the page while it cooks; the photo waits on your ticket rail when you come back.
Do you keep my photos or use them to train AI?
We strip location data from every upload. Free users’ uploads and results are deleted after 30 days; paid results are kept until you delete them or close your account. We do not use your photos to train AI models and we never sell them. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Can I do drinks and cocktails?
Yes. Dark & Moody suits bars and cocktails, Color Pop works for smoothies and promo drinks, and Bright & Airy is made for coffee. Your glassware, garnish and fill level are kept as they are.
Paying
Do photos expire? Do I need a subscription?
Photos in packs never expire and packs are one-time payments, no subscription needed. The Kitchen Plan is optional, for places that change specials every month. If you cancel it, the photos you already got stay yours.
What if the result doesn’t look like my dish?
Tap "Doesn’t look like my dish" under the result. We refund that photo and redo it free with the same look. If the redo is still off, email hello@menuphotoenhancer.com and we refund that photo.
Can I use the photos on my printed menu, website and Instagram?
Yes. You can use the photos you make for your business anywhere: delivery apps, printed and QR menus, your website, Google, Yelp, social posts and ads. Free previews carry a watermark, so download the HD version for anything public.
